Overview
This year our creative direction for Debrief is built on the idea of breaking things down and building them back up, mirroring the design process itself: deconstructing what inspires us, examining its rawest form, adding our own voice, and rebuilding it anew.
The concept of blocks underpins this theme. They reference pixels, the shared foundation across design disciplines, and the whenua (land) we study, grow, and live on. We acknowledge mana whenua (local iwi/hapū) and their enduring relationship to place.
We remember our early days at the polytechnic with a lot of warmth and fondness. We really value the good memories we made during that time, and we’re excited about the new challenges coming our way. We’ve walked a path that had its fair share of unknowns and uncertainties,
and it’s been a journey that’s added a lot to what we know and our life experiences.
We just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who’s been a part
of our journey these last few years. We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, and we’ve learned so much, not just about each other, but about ourselves too. Your presence and support have been instrumental in shaping these memorable years, and for that, we say a massive thank you!
Stepping out of our comfort zone stirs up all sorts of feelings, but one thing’s certain: we’ve got what it takes to handle whatever challenges come our way and achieve some pretty cool things.
