Stapled Noise

My philosophy is simple: create designs that stand out and bring people together. I moved to Ōtepoti to study design and to apparently end up as a full-time face within the local alternative music scene. I’m not a muso, so design has become my way of giving back to this wonderful community. Stapled Noise grew out of that — it’s a not-for-profit publication capturing Ōtepoti’s current alternative music scene. Working alongside Radio One’s kaupapa, I worked hard to advocate for this community. These were the first steps along a multidisciplinary journey of experimenting with mixed media design, collaboration and utilising the restrictions of risograph printing. The result is a handbook for students and creatives new to Dunedin — packed with venue guides, band interviews, and all the things that make this local scene special. You’ll find Stapled Noise scattered across campus, venues, and cafés — free to anyone who stumbles upon it.
