Te Punaka Ōwheo Branding

Traveling from the United States to finish my final year of study at Otago Polytechnic, I had one goal in mind—to learn as much as I could about New Zealand. The country is well known for its friendly people, and I have had lots to learn from their perspectives. Those new perspectives have strengthened my design process to consider a wider audience. And with my designs, I strive to help my community better reach their audiences. Through my internship in the Print and Design Studio at the School of Design, I had the opportunity to brand Otago Polytechnic’s Māori student success centre, Te Punaka Ōwheo. With bright colours and inspirations from the Otago region, the project aims to make the centre more recognisable and communicate its welcoming personality. It was a wonderful experience to learn more about New Zealand and Māori culture while giving back to the college.
