The Gaze in Wool

‘The Gaze in Wool’ is a ready-to-wear collection that explores the reclamation of traditional elegance as a deliberate and powerful expression of femininity. Rejecting a history of elegance defined by patriarchal ideals, I reimagine elegance not as a form of submission or control, but as a symbol of intellect and independence, reimagining what a “female gaze” could look like. It frames garments as a language through which women claim autonomy. It redefines the meaning of femininity.

Formed through rich textures of primarily wool textiles, the fibre embodies a mindful connection between tradition and contemporary design brought to life through thoughtful silhouettes. Through my research the collection showcases historical features merged with contemporary materials alongside techniques of tailoring. By investigating feminist theory as the centre of my design process, the collection evokes a deep symbolism of empowerment.
