Kith + Kin is a custom deck of playing cards revolving around the four elements: Earth, Fire, Air and Water. This project was inspired by my semester abroad. Whether I am home in New York or in New Zealand I am still going to encounter the four elements wherever I may be. I first created symbols for each of the elements and then applied them to the numerical cards. I have used my very own “kith and kin” on the face cards of the deck to emphasize the personal meaning behind this project. The back of the cards is an illustration of myself holding the key to my two completely different worlds linked by a compass. The deck is complete with 52 cards, two jokers and custom packaging.
