Communication – Observations
Photographer, artist, designer, curator, promoter, reporter; any way the page turns — I am a story-teller. If there is a lesson from investigations into my practice it is this: photography, art and design provide us with a means of understanding life. Looking at ourselves or into the expression of another helps us to make sense of the world. My influences include twentieth century pioneers Steichen, Stieglitz, Cartier-Bresson and Man-Ray. I draw from the studio work of Richard Avedon and most recently contemporary artists Christine Webster and Zoey Grossman. Making observations through the lens and communicating them is my job. If there is a story to be told I’d like to be there and will probably try to make a book.
