Freelancer business models and student career choices
On graduating with a Bachelor of Culinary Arts, I had the desire to learn more about business design and freelance– with a strong interest in a career in food media. My thesis explores how COVID-19 affected the way people work, the allure of freelance, drivers behind freelance career success, women in the workplace, and interviews held with several Kiwi women operating in the food media freelance space. I talked to them about their careers thus far, with a focus on why they transitioned into freelance and their business models. The outcome of my thesis is an adaptable business model canvas for graduate design students to utilise throughout their career.
