The collection before you stemmed from research into my ancestry and the English Regency Period. By dissecting the treatment my ancestors faced I came across a specific theme associated with the constraints women experienced regarding their obligation to marry. Design for me is raising a question, shining a light on past and present issues, and expressing them in an audacious light. I wanted to achieve a contemporary interpretation of the 19th-century matrimony standards that entailed repressive clothing. This collection holds a composition of traditional and contemporary features that can be worn in many ways. I hope the audience can feel a taste of the past through my work and understand my theme of undesired love.
